Smriti Mandhana, the dynamic batter from Team India, has etched her name into cricket folklore by becoming the first Indian woman to achieve centuries in all three international formats: Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
Smriti Mandhana celebrates her record-breaking century.
The historic moment unfolded during the first T20I match between India Women and England Women at Trent Bridge. Mandhana delivered a breathtaking performance, scoring 112 runs off a mere 62 balls.
Stepping in as captain, Mandhana showcased exceptional leadership, leading from the front with a dominant display that included 15 boundaries and three towering sixes.
Her aggressive yet composed innings propelled India to a formidable total of 210/5 in 20 overs – their highest-ever T20I score against England.
Mandhana's record-breaking century was also her first in T20Is, completing a rare feat that had eluded every other Indian woman batter until now. Her century set the tone early, combining elegance with power, especially as she neutralised England’s top spinners like Sophie Ecclestone with fearless strokeplay.
The innings also featured valuable contributions from Harleen Deol, who scored 43 runs off 23 balls, and Deepti Sharma, who remained not out with 7 runs off 3 balls. India maintained a strong run rate throughout the innings. Lauren Bell was the pick of England’s bowlers with three wickets, but the damage had already been done.
Mandhana's achievement places her among an elite group of cricketers globally, as only a select few, both male and female, have scored centuries across all three formats of the game.
Her milestone marks a defining moment not only for her personal career but also for Indian women’s cricket, inspiring a new generation of aspiring cricketers to dream big and overcome obstacles.
With this commanding performance, Mandhana has once again demonstrated why she is the face of Indian women’s cricket: consistent, fearless, and record-breaking.
