The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has officially confirmed this decision to Cricbuzz. Currently, the GCA is in the process of determining the optimal time frame for the tournament, as well as finalizing the number of participating teams and other crucial details.
These domestic T20 leagues are increasingly becoming important scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra are already providing significant opportunities for local talent to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
